Soilfix Managing Director, George Evans featured on Environment Analyst’s second COVID-19 virtual panel discussion last week, which attracted huge interest in the brownfield community with over 150 people attending the live debate. The ultimate take home message was: the sector remains defiantly optimistic.
Given it’s the time of the slogan, if the recent economic collapse has been termed the Great Lockdown. In the UK’s development, brownfield and regeneration sector, people will now be hearing another one: Bring on the Bounce Back!
This positive, defiant slogan came courtesy of George: “We are lucky in the brownfield sector that we don’t rely too much on other trades. We tend to be first in the chain on a lot of projects. Soilfix have continued to experience a high volume of enquiries for potential brownfield remediation opportunities (including future development sites) during the lockdown – we have been assisting our clients to manage their risks in the ground and save costs by combining their remediation requirements with specialist enabling works, such as construction of ‘suitable for use’ development platforms, archaeological support, riverwall / deep drainage repairs and so on.
Whilst the IMF have painted a bleak picture of the overall economic outlook as a result of the Great Lockdown, Soilfix remain cautiously optimistic that these difficult times can be steered through……
