Soilfix have been given the green light by Gloucester Quays LLP to commence large-scale regeneration works on 10Hectares of derelict industrial land as part of a £300m regeneration scheme to the south of the main Gloucester Docks. Historical land uses across 9 land parcels included shipyards and large former fuel storage terminals, which have resulted in complex contamination and ground engineering issues.
The 38 week contract, worth over £2m, will include decommissioning and demolition of a former fuel storage depot, groundwater treatment, 10,000m3 of ex-situ bioremediation treatment, screening/sorting of 25,000m3 made ground and 50,000m3 of enabling earthworks including stabilisation to form a “suitable for use” development platform. Land parcels will be handed over to development partners to commence construction of around 1000 homes.
Certain areas are of considerable archaeological interest, and Soilfix will be working closely with a team of archaeologists to accurately record remnant archaeology to the satisfaction of Historic England.
