Not content with their East v West Sprint challenge, Soilfix Directors George Evans and Steve Jackson have also competed individually in Olympic distance Triathlons this summer.
In June, George completed the gruelling “Ocean Tri” event in Devon, comprising a 1.5km sea swim, 40km cycle and a 12km (hilly) run. If this wasn’t difficult enough, the transition from sea to cycle required a bare footed 1km run up a hill from the beach!. George completed this challenge in a very respectable 3hrs 7 mins coming 100th out of 360 who actually finished.
In July, Steve completed the London Triathlon for the second time – expecting to cope with the afternoon heat, he was instead faced with thunder storms, torrential rain / hail, headwinds and waterlogged running areas. Completing the triathlon with a time of 2hrs 39mins was therefore a great result, coming 254th place out of 1400 competitors (which included nearly 100 Did Not Finish!).
