Our new safety initiative ‘SafeGround’

Given the nature of our work and the type of machinery involved, the sites we work on can be dangerous if not managed carefully. That’s why we take site safety seriously and have even devised our own site safety initiative: ‘SafeGround’.

  • Controls – through regular safety audits, environmental / occupational monitoring, safe systems of work and effective supervision;
  • Communication & Co-operation – keeping this clear and consistent through our worker engagement initiatives, effective site inductions and daily briefings, encouraging reporting of near-misses, unsafe occurrences and/or acts; and,
  • Continual improvement – we encourage our staff to adopt a ‘Growth Mindset’ in relation to Health & Safety to continually learn and improve our safety procedures and practices.

Mates in Mind

As part of our strive to safeguard our workforce’s mental wellbeing, Soilfix are an active member of the Construction Industry ‘Mates in Mind’ initiative.

Mates in Mind is a registered UK charity raising awareness, addressing the stigma of poor mental health and promoting positive mental wellbeing across workplaces.  Their mantra is Be a mate. Be the change.

They help to make sense of available options and support employers to address mental health within their workplace. Mates in Mind across industries, focusing on construction, as well as related sectors including transport, logistics, manufacturing and others. Together Mates in Mind and its members can be the change needed to improve workplace mental health.

Our Managing Director, George Evans is a fully qualified Mental Health First-Aider, and several Soilfix staff have attended the Mental Health Awareness & Leadership Course.
