There is a lot of social media focus on Soilfix and the projects that we are working on, but none of this would be possible without our valued employees. From pumping injection wells in the cold to recording waste tickets from the comfort of a warm office, every employee plays a vital and valuable role. The ‘Employee Spotlight’ series introduces you to our staff and in turn, gives a round of literary applause to each. We continue this series for October with;
Josh Cuming – Assistant Project Manager
1. Briefly describe how you spend your day.
There isn’t a typical day at Soilfix. I could be liaising with clients or suppliers, working on the financials for a project or be on site taking care of the engineering side of remediation.
2. What is the best thing about your job?
Being able to work outside and meeting plenty of interesting people from plant operators and clients to consultants and sub-contractors.
3. What is the best thing about working for Soilfix?
It is without a doubt the Soilfix team. The company culture is very much based on working as a team towards a joint goal. Technically we also have some very knowledgeable people who are always keen to share what they know.
4. Proudest moment so far working for Soilfix?
My proudest moment is every time we finish a project locking the gate for the final time. On the way out and looking back at the site and appreciating that the work Soilfix has done has made the site suitable for its new use.
5. What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to play and follow rugby. I also like to think I’m pretty handy in the kitchen.
6. What inspires you?
The pursuit of knowledge. I enjoy going home knowing something that I didn’t know at the start of the day.

8. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Butchery
9. What’s your Monday morning ‘motivational shower song’?
I’m a massive fan of drum and bass. My favourite song would be London Electricity – Just One Second.
10. What are five words (or less) of advice for others in your profession?
Embrace different ideas. I think in our industry, often ‘there is more than one way to skin a cat’. If we are open to different ideas of doing things there may be a more efficient, sustainable or cost effective way of completing a task.
