Our Director Steve Jackson presented a webinar to the Environmental Analyst Brownfield Intelligence Network, to discuss how Soilfix has developed a user-friendly Carbon Calculator tool to support sustainable remediation design as part of its Carbon Reduction Plan in line with the Paris Agreement.
Steve outlined some Case Studies where this tool has been applied – including our current Fulham Gasworks remediation project where St William have specified mandatory use of Green Fuel for all plant and equipment. Soilfix has calculated this will reduce Berkeley Group’s Scope 3 (indirect) CO2 emissions by 207 tonnes on this single 23-week work package. As Steve noted, Berkeley Group should be applauded for taking a lead role in promoting Sustainable Construction and are willing to invest in the higher (at present) cost of using this cleaner, greener fuel.
Steve also outlined a Case Study where our sustainable landfill remediation project completed at Burgess Hill for Countryside Properties reduced carbon emissions by almost 50% when compared to a more traditional ‘dig & dump’ based approach.
