We recently asked our new Business Development Manager, Helen Bennett, a few questions in order to get to know her better.
What do you find is the most fulfilling part of your role?
Building relationships. It’s great to earn trust and to be given the opportunity to work on some amazing schemes, seeing a project come together, pre-tender onwards. Incredibly rewarding, too, when that comes from a completely new client.
Why the construction industry?
From the down-to-earth nature of the people that I’ve worked with over the years to the satisfaction of contributing to the built environment landscape, I really can’t fault it. A muddy visit to a busy, bustling site can be pretty life-affirming too!
What excited you most about your move to Soilfix?
The opportunity to join a respected, forward-thinking remediation company with plans to develop and grow excites me. Soilfix has a brilliant reputation, and client feedback is always so positive. A perfect base for me to build trust with new clients.
What do you think about Soilfix now you have been with us for a month?
Fantastic teamwork sums it up really. A super-knowledgeable bunch of people with a passion for remediation. Everybody pulling together, collaborating, sharing ideas and innovation for the good of the project and the client.
What would Helen version 2.0 be doing career-wise in a parallel universe?
Oh, that’s easy. A journalist. I’m fascinated by the English language and the range of dialects on our small island.
I’d have the tenacity to get THE story and I’m a stickler for grammar!
Helen is a Business Development Manager with a marketing background and 25 years of experience in the construction industry. For the past 13 years, she has enjoyed working for multi-disciplinary companies offering below-ground expertise, including geoenvironmental consultancy and land remediation contracting. With a positive and determined approach, Helen is busy driving business development in the North and Midlands for Soilfix, building long-term, collaborative business relationships. When she gets a minute, Helen enjoys making bespoke clothing and a spot of yoga.
