Soilfix were proud to host the University of East Anglia (UEA) and their twin university in Ukraine (PNU) over a two-day period recently, in order to share knowledge in remediation that will help rebuild their country in the future. The eight PNU delegates that attended were researchers with expertise in chemistry, physics, biology and environmental science.
Day 1 involved an in-person workshop to provide real-world technology demonstration from a UK-based remediation specialist, helping provide solutions to develop/improve soil & water remediation methods.
George Evans and Paul Hazlehurst co-presented a seminar on Land Remediation, split into Site Assessment & Remediation and presented detailed Case Studies of two existing Soilfix remediation projects (Angmering Raceway & Tipner East Regeneration) to be attended by the delegates on Day 2.
Our Tipner Regeneration case study discussed the various measures Soilfix has taken to manage risks of encountering unexploded ordnance at the site – Fellows International Limited will attend the subsequent site visit to provide further insight into UXO risk assessment and management, which will no doubt be a significant consideration of future rebuilding activities in Ukraine.
As reported by BBC News this morning, The World Bank and other multilateral development bodies are playing a key role in the Ukraine Recovery Conference which is focusing on the role the private sector can play in rebuilding the country.
