Soilfix 7th Safety Standdown

Health & Safety

Soilfix Limited recently completed its 7th Safety Standdown across all operational sites and main offices.

This biannual initiative was introduced in September 2020, when all Soilfix site activities are temporarily paused, on every live site.

The standdown begins with a ‘safety moment’, where an industry related incident is presented, to share a powerful message and update on lessons learned. Focus is then brought more closely to home where an example of an incident on one of our own sites is discussed, including where we have identified any lessons to be shared across Soilfix colleagues and our supply chain.

Everybody attending the Safety Standdown has the opportunity to report their own observations and suggestions for improvements. This standdown resulted in 60 suggestions… great work team!

Finally, a plant awareness activity allows those not used to operating plant to sit in a machine cab so they can understand some of the challenges our operators face.

Our HSQE Manager said: “This standdown was our best yet, with an excellent level of attendance and engagement across all sites. There were some brave shares during the open suggestions session, resulting in some positive conversations around mental health and the impact of suicide in our industry. This further demonstrates the importance of pausing to give our teams the time to think about safety and have the opportunity to take part in such important initiatives”.
