Avon Wildlife Trust manage a 12 acre Bristol City Council site called ‘Grow Wilder’, which includes a brownfield-style area, informally named ‘Green Shoots’, where they are.
To provide some support, Emma Geering (Soilfix Senior Environmental Scientist) and Ben Burgess (Soilfix Site Supervisor) spent a full day at their site, initially carrying out an inspection.
Whilst there, Ben donned his safety gear and removed visible asbestos cement sheeting fragments from the pathway (under Emma’s expert Supervision!). The area was being used for access into Green Shoots, and the removal of this makes this a much safer route for those needing to use it. Ben even made what some consider the ultimate sacrifice, shaving off his beard to ensure a proper face-fit of his respirator (well it is a worthwhile charity, after all !).
