There is a lot of social media focus on Soilfix and the projects that we are working on, but none of this would be possible without our valued employees. From pumping injection wells in the cold to recording waste tickets from the comfort of a warm office, every employee plays a vital and valuable role. 10 Questions with Steve Jackson
1. Briefly describe how you spend your day
Difficult question as no two days are the same for me! Its a varied mix of internal / external meetings (a lot on Teams / Zoom these days), bid reviews / support, site visits, etc. etc… etc…..
2. What is the best thing about your job?
The Soilfix Bid Team getting a tender ‘over the line’ to secure a new contract after lots of collective hard work and patience – it still gives me a buzz after all these years.
3. What is the best thing about working for Soilfix?
Everyone shares a passion for making derelict brownfield sites better places to live/work as well as protecting the environment.
4. Proudest moment so far working for Soilfix?
There have been lots! Probably helping elevate the Soilfix brand / reputation into one of the market leaders has given me the most pride…….. closely followed by how everyone at Soilfix pulled together during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
5. What do you like to do outside of work?
Cycling, open-water swimming, running and part-time dog walking.
6. What inspires you?
Helping (and seeing) Soilfix employees gain more confidence in their roles, making the ‘next step up’ and achieving their goals.
7. Fill in the blank: I once met ….
Roy Ayres (Jazz Funk Legend) after a gig at Ronnie Scott’s in London – he sat down and held court chatting for about half an hour, then bought us all a drink – legend!
8. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Speak French and/or Spanish fluent enough to have a proper conversation with the locals whilst abroad – might have to wait until retirement to have a chance at doing this!
9. What’s your Monday morning ‘motivational shower song’?
Don’t usually have a song in my head when showering I’m afraid, and I certainly wouldn’t torture my wife by singing out loud – I’m basically tone deaf.
10. What are five words (or less) of advice for others in your profession.
