Through this consultation, DEFRA are seeking views on whether an exemption is needed to better support residential development on some brownfield land, in line with the government’s ‘Brownfield‑first’ approach and wider proposals to accelerate housing delivery on well‑connected urban sites…. both initiatives fully endorsed by Soilfix!
The consultation is seeking views on the definition of brownfield residential development, potential thresholds for an exemption, and identifying measures to ensure any exemption remains environmentally robust. DEFRA also welcome comments on ecological, administrative, and viability impacts, including any evidence or case studies.
