Soilfix is delighted to have secured its latest remediation project from developer Vistry. Appointed as Principal Contractor, Soilfix is all set to help transform a 4-ha disused council depot site, three miles north of Bristol City Centre.
Vistry and housing company Goram Homes are developing the site into a thriving new neighbourhood comprising of 140 new mixed-tenure homes.
Soilfix is no stranger to the role of Principal Contractor and will once again relish the opportunity to fully remediate and enable a technically challenging site for one of the UK’s leading residential developers.
During its former life as a council depot, the site was also used to deliver training in confined spaces for the local blue light services, including the fire brigade, and features a network of underground tunnels. Soilfix will deal with and manage all issues on site, from above and below ground obstructions to contamination. This includes:
- Dilapidated buildings containing asbestos
- Tree clearance
- Historical fly-tipped and buried waste
- Invasive plants
- Underground fuel tanks
- Archaeological and ecological issues
In addition, Soilfix will undertake a cut and fill exercise to the correct levels, delivering a robust development platform for piling, whilst re-engineering a significant volume of material to meet the geotechnical specification.
