Soilfix is delighted to be working with Obsidian Strategic, RSK Geosciences and KeyTask Management to provide comprehensive site re-grading and restoration works at a former sandstone quarry near Faringdon in Oxfordshire. The nine-acre derelict quarry, that was also used for manufacture of concrete ornaments, is being restored to suitable contours for future redevelopment to much needed residential housing with open space amenity areas.
Soilfix will be carrying out materials processing (including significant quantities of unquarried sandstone) and site re-grading of 62,000m3 materials to development contours designed by RSK, fully in accordance with Series 600 of the Specification for Highways Works. Works will also comprise the construction of 770 linear metres of mechanically stabilised earth (MSE) basal slopes at the toe of exposed quarry faces. Infilling with modified, site-won topsoil and hydro-seeding with a meadowgrass mix will provide an opportunity for biodiversity enhancement together with the retained upper quarry faces.
