Not to be left out with the summers sporting challenges, Soilfix Director Richard Mabe completed his first long distance open water swimming challenge at Southend-on-Sea in July. The Pier Swim was a 2.5mile (3.3km) swim along Southend seafront (going under the Pier) – challenging enough, however Richard was caught in the same storm as Steve’s Triathlon, meaning he had to contend with high winds and 1m swell. Despite getting a few mouthfuls of sea-water and sea-sickness, Richard completed the swim in an impressive 1hr 52secs – but won’t be in a hurry to do another!
