Talks of renovating the Avonmouth office go back as far as 2019! With the ups and downs of a post covid world, we are delighted that the plans are finally coming to life.
Step one – Clean the building!
When you furrow your brow and pause to remember when the building was last cleaned, its probably time to invest in some professional help (over 10 buckets, a multi-pack of car sponges and a plea for some willing staff members to pitch in!) Thank you to David Morris Contract Services who managed this with the skill and professionalism that Unit 10 deserves!
With the outside of the building gleaming in the pre-Spring sunshine, a patio was laid to allow staff to fully take advantage of an al fresco cafe-style lunch in the warmer months (picnic table photos to come!)
The old Soilfix branding on the windows and doors were replaced, giving the external building a new lease of life, ready for another 15 years!
Step Two – Renovate, Refresh and Recycle
By reducing the size of the warehouse floor and knocking through the existing meeting room, has created three wonderful new rooms.
(Two large size meeting rooms and one breakout room, complete with a small kitchen, bistro-style tables, a flat-screen TV and further casual seating).
The main office furniture has been modernised to include 3-person cluster desking, allowing for better use of the space and for future business growth.
With an office wormery and some brand new plants, all that is missing is the stunning photographic art of our sites for the walls.
Our previous furniture was donated to Collecteco, which partners with companies across the UK to donate good quality, modern furniture and equipment to charities, schools, community groups, NHS trusts and other not-for-profit good causes. Hard to believe that we’ve been in our Bristol office for 15 years. We love the space and great connections from here, so its been great to refresh our building layout and make the space work better for us – Our team has grown a lot over the recent years!! We’ve pushed out into the warehouse space with more meeting rooms and reconfigured our desk layouts. All our old furniture has been reused or recycled, and the space is now much more efficiently utilised. All the Bristol team are now happily deployed in the new layout … we just need to agree on the temperature setting on the thermostat 😉

An integral financial cog in the infrastructure of Soilfix, Ann has been our Finance Manager for almost 10 years. Following the office expansion and refurbishment, she loves the new office layout and especially likes where her new desk is situated. Of all the multiple desks she has occupied over the years, this is the best configuration for sensitive information in her financial role.
