Supporting The Trussell Trust Southend Foodbank this Christmas

Charity

Soilfix are proud to be supporting The Trussell Trust Southend Foodbank this Christmas with a donation of £2,850 (which includes £350 of money raised via a raffle prize at the annual Soilfix Christmas Party).

Each year, we look to support a local charity which aligns with the Soilfix Core Values. Previously we have supported Mind in 2020 (for mental health) and Avon Wildlife Trust in 2021 (supporting the work of the wildlife trust and providing a place in nature for our well-being).

Lack of food will directly affect the mental health and well-being of so many families this winter through no fault of their own. Supporting the work of the Trussell Trust Southend Foodbank will directly help those affected during the cost-of-living crisis.

The Trussell Trust support a nationwide network of food banks, and together they provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

“There are more than 1,200 food bank centres in our network, about two thirds of the food banks in the UK. We support these food banks to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis (for instance by advice agencies, GPs, social services and schools), as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face. More than 14 million people in the UK live below the poverty line. We understand that every person’s struggle with poverty is different and that it takes more than food to end hunger. So we bring together the experiences of food banks in our network, and their communities, to challenge the structural issues that lock people in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.”
