January was a busy start to the year for Soilfix providing CPD Seminars to its valued clients and consultant partners.
Our Sales & Marketing Director, Steve JacksonSteve Jackson, presented a combined in-person / online lunchtime seminar to over 100 technical staff at Ramboll UK’s London Office.
The subject of Steve’s CPD seminar was Use of a ‘Carbon Calculator’ Tool to Support Sustainable Remediation & Ground Engineering Design – A Contractor’s Approach
Steve discussed how Soilfix has been calculating its baseline Carbon Footprint and developing a Carbon Reduction Plan as part of its journey towards achieving ‘Net Zero’, whilst in parallel developing a bespoke ‘Carbon Calculator’ tool to help determine potential vs actual Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from particular remediation & enabling projects, from tender to design through to full-scale implementation stages.
Case Study examples were presented to demonstrate how this tool can help clients and their consultants make an informed decision on remediation & ground engineering option(s) with the lowest potential GHG emissions and the cost vs benefit of adopting these alternative design approaches, plus use of green fuels such as hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO).
Soilfix has recently evolved version 01 of its Carbon Calculator, to increase the range of options for assessment of using alternative, more sustainable binders for modification / treatment of soils, a wider range of recycled aggregate products through to more sustainable off-site treatment alternatives to landfilling. This shows the continual development and improvement of this highly valuable tool.
